As I’m sure you know, NAMM starts soon. NAMM is a place to present new products, and I will of course do my best to report about what’s going on there. So what will be there? I’ve heard about a lot of new basses and guitars (yeah, like that was a surprise!) but as you know I don’t really write much about those kind of instruments here. Wow, this is something new to me. It almost looks like a direct challenge from Nomad Factory to URS and Chandler. Or did they just happen to emulate the same gear as these two? Not that there’s anything wrong with it, we have tons of API and Neve emulations from all kinds of plug-in developers already so why not these oddities? What can I say? This will be interesting!

What I’m talking about is the new Retrology series from Nomad Factory. This series comes in two bundles of two. First the EMI Tone pack, which digitally recreates the Equalizer and Presence Filter which were part of the 1972 TG12410 transfer desk (mastering console) of Abbey Road Studios. The second is Retrology pack is Music & Film, two plug-ins which bears a striking resemblance to the same hardware that URS recently released emulations of in their M Series. They are all priced lower, but will they sound as good (or better)? Time will tell.

Finally, The Analog Mastering Tools includes A.M.T. Amp Leveler, A.M.T. Max and A.M.T. Multi Max. These are limiters and multi-band dynamics processing tools.

* iLok support (Mac/PC).
* Windows Vista support.
* Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.

* The Essential Studio Suite is now available in RTAS Windows format as well, and Rock Amp Legends have now got Intel Mac support.
