Have you checked out SSL’s halloween gift X-orcism? It’s not available in RTAS, only AU and VST but I thought I’d give it a mention anyway since I had so much fun with it. I guess it’ works in Pro Tools with the wrapper (I still haven’t got it and I’m not in a hurry either). I used it in Live. It’s a howlin’ ghoulish thing, give it a go!

Flux have released a new freebie plug-in called Stereo Tools for RTAS, AU and VST (Windows and OS X). Stereo Tool offers controls and visual feedback for the stereo stage.
From the Flux press release
Stereo Tool features ultra precise controls of input gain and individual pan for left and right channels. A phase inverter is available for each channel. A global stereo pan and a stereo width setting are also implemented to complete the management of the stereo signal.
Stereo Tool also offers an accurate visual feedback reflecting the signal content. A vector scope display, Peak meters for both inputs and outputs, and a phase correlation meter permanently monitor the signal.
As all Flux:: plug-ins it features 64 bit floating point processing, up to 8 FS (384 KHz).

I’ve picked up some news from Flux.
In the coming days they will release:
- The follow-up to one of my favorite sounding EQs Epure II with TDM and Venue support (and also Digi Remote controls support). Excellent news!
- A new Freeware: Stereo Tool with stereo controls and stereo oscilloscope and phase meter. Should be a useful addition to the freebies out there.

In case you haven’t downloaded it yet…
I tried Brainworx bx_solo for the first time today, I only used it as a stereo widener, worked like a charm. Go grab it if you haven’t done so yet!

Some didn’t really get what Flux free plug-in Bitter-Sweet actually do and gave up on trying it. Honestly, the first time I tried it on something I didn’t hear a difference at all. The trick is to use it on something where it actually makes a difference because it’s a pretty unique plug-in. I had my first really good experience with it yesterday.

Here’s a freebie, unfortunately not RTAS, but it will work with the wrapper from FXPansion or if you are using Live or any other app that can handle VST and/or AU.

Flux gives away plug-ins? You better believe it. Bitter-Sweet is a dynamic processor to manage audio transients and it’s free! Running on both OSX and Windows.
Turning the central button on the sweet side, decreases the transients amplitude. On the bitter side, the transients amplitude is magnified. Bitter-Sweet also features a control for the signal to be processed. When the main position is engaged, the process affects the stereo signal. If Center is engaged, only the M signal of the internal MS matrix is processed. If stereo is selected, only the S signal from the MS matrix is processed. As all Flux:: plug-ins it features 64 bit floating point processing, up to 8 channels and up to 8 FS (384 KHz). Center and Stereo Mode are only available in stereo (2 channels) processing.
