Eventide announced today v3.5 software upgrade for its best-selling Eclipse digital multi-effects processor. The upgrade, free for registered users, via download is available from eventide.com. The new upgrade accelerates the operating system, dramatically decreases MIDI latency, improves system control responsiveness, doubles the number of parameters that can be controlled at one time, thus enabling more intuitive, expressive operation of the Eclipse for live and studio applications.

Steinway & Sons and Garritan announce a new venture to create a series of Authorized Steinway Piano sample-based software instruments.

The Authorized Steinway Piano sample library is a new sample-based software instrument that accurately captures the sound of a Steinway & Sons concert grand piano. This new software instrument will allow the musician to play a virtual Steinway Model D concert piano with unprecedented authenticity and musicality. Universal Audio has announced partnership with Valley People, Sound Performance Lab and Empirical Labs to sign licensing deals with UA to develop future plug-ins for their DSP platform. Expect an Empirical Labs Fatso plug-in in mid-late 2008 and an SPL Transient Designer. More plug-ins from these three are TBA.
