Pro Tools 10 – first run

Yesterday was the first chance I had to give Pro Tools 10 a serious run. While I need more time to give you my complete opinion on the entire package, I figured some of you might be interested in the first impressions.

REVIEW: Neyrinck V-Control Pro 1.2

A quick overview of V-Control Pro. When the iPad was first announced I knew what I wanted to see – kickass controller apps! Finding the best ways to control my music software has from time to time been an obsession of mine. Perhaps one of the most serious attempts to create a powerful controller app [...]

Look what just landed on my desk…

Look-y here, Komplete 8 Ultimate. Man, I’ve been waiting for this. I’ll give you an ongoing review of Komplete 8 Ultimate. It’s quite simply too much content to cover in one post.

What virtual instrument do you use for drums?

I get plenty of questions from readers and folks on forums about Pro Tools and plugins, and it’s cool, you can ask me anything. Today I received a question regarding drum virtual instruments. While the question was very specific (the best kind of questions!) I thought I would share my general opinion on drums and [...]

REVIEW: Freshtone – Lost Tapes Vol.1

I probably get a million press releases about new sound libraries every week. OK, might be a slight exaggeration but you wouldn’t believe how much of my flooded inbox contains news about samples and loops. Most of these new sound libraries are made for techno, trance, house, minimal and the like so when something like [...]

What’s so amazing is that it still gets used by a lot of people, including me (and people more successful than me for that matter). A while back McDSP decided [...]

REVIEW: Quantum Leap Spaces

I’m letting a few other writers contribute because I simply don’t have the time to review everything I like anymore. This review was made by Michael Carter. Take it away MC! / stiff * * * Is there anything in the mixing world that raises more hackles than a discussion of reverb? Hardware vs. ITB, [...]

REVIEW: Elysia Alpha Compressor

Up until now few of us have had the chance to work with Elysia’s Alpha Compressor, it’s very expensive in its original hardware form. Thankfully Elysia has again teamed up with Brainworx to create a software version of it.

REVIEW: Flux Ircam Verb

When Flux made it public that they were working with Ircam I saw it as a match made in heaven. When it turned out that one of their products was a reverb I had high hopes that this would be the product that finally made me fully appreciate plugin reverbs.

REVIEW: Overloud SpringAge

We aren’t exactly flooded with spring reverb plugins, which is a damn shame because I love them. Overloud noticed the lack and released SpringAge not too long ago.
