Native Instruments Introduces Evolve Mutations 2

Native Instruments has introduced Evolve Mutations 2, a new Kontakt Player-based instrument made mainly for movie, TV and game composers (though I can’t see why any other type can’t use it).

Vienna Symphonic Library March offer

Is it just me or is there a lot of offers this month? Anyway, Vienna is giving away Soprano Choir for free if you purchase the Standard Library of the Vienna Special Edition or the Special Edition PLUS between March 1 and March 31.

New Broadway Big Band Kontakt Edition

SONiVOX has announced a Kontakt edition of Broadway Big Band, a monster library for non-orchestral brass and woodwind. I’m currently writing a lot for these type of instruments and am getting closer and closer to becoming a hardcore Kontakt user so I’m a little intrigued of this release. The price is very steep though, at almost $2500 it better be intuitive as heck and make my rotten notes sound golden.

You can read more about it and listen to demo’s at the SONiVOX website. If someone happens to own it/try it, feel free to share your opinion.

Cytomic The Glue now has Windows RTAS support

With the release of v1.0.15, The Glue bus compressor from Cytomic is now available for Windows RTAS users as well.

Here are the features and fixes:

  • Windows RTAS support
  • Fix for Logic in 64 bit mode when using the 32 bit bridge (Note: the Logic 32 bit bridge does not currently support sidechains and blanks out the interface when it first loads – you have to click away from The Glue and it redraws properly. These two bugs are known issues that Apple will fix with an update)
  • Fix for Digital Performer, mono mode now works
  • Fix for Live in full screen mode, menus now appear correctly
  • Fix for Pro Tools, removal of duplicate plugin entry (Note: all Pro Tools users should swap all copies of The Glue in their projects over to the “SC” version using v1.0.14 and then save their projects before installing v1.0.15. This can be done by choosing the SC version from the plugin menu without unloading the non-SC version so that all plugin settings are retained)
  • Cytomic

It’s labeled “beta”, so Cytomic obviously want to test it a little more.

GForce Software release expansion pack for M-Tron Pro

The dead gorgeous sounding M-Tron Pro is getting expanded with great sounds from the Optigan. Optitron, as it’s called, features 30 new tape banks divided into 5 lead and 25 rhythms all looped. On top of that, three new skins have been included for the M-Tron Pro.

The price is €39 and the sound should be lo-fi and good.

Eventide Reverb plug-in at 70% off

Eventide has announced that the Eventide Reverb from Anthology II bundle will be available for the entire month of March for $199. After this offer is over it won’t be available as a single plug-in again.

From Eventide:

This full-featured, flexible, multi-effect plug-in born from Eventide’s flagship H8000 processor, the Eventide Reverb features nine room types, randomizing modulation, a Low-Fi effect, as well as a compressor, parametric EQ, and stereo delays.

As far as reverbs go, the Eventide ones are the best I’ve ever heard. I’m definitely getting one of their hardware units one day.

30% off on McDSP products until May

McDSP is running a 30% off sale until May when the AU versions are released and the prices increase.

At the moment I’m mostly using the two limiters Retro Limiter and ML4000 and at times Futzbox. Also really like the Retro EQ and am really looking forward to the upcoming compressor.
