I hear sounds as colors in my mind. Frequently when I’m EQing or checking the spectrum of the mix or a piece of music, if I don’t see the right colors in it I know the balance is not there.

    can be helpful to know that Swedien’s way of ‘hearing colors’ is the result of a disease he has, the Synesthesia. he also says it’s more a pain in the ass than a secret weapon.

    Interesting that anyone would call it a disease.

    It’s just part of who he is.

    I have friends with synesthesia (and other forms of auditory linking, such as with taste), and none of them are diseased.

    alright Corey, it’s more of a neurological phenomenon than a disease i agree :)
    but for the french i am it was easier to say “disease” than checking what were the english words for “phénomene neurologique” (which i know now) …

    but still, it’s not something you earn or you can really practicize, it’s “built-in” (maybe “innate” was more appropriated ? :) )
