Akai has announced the next MPC – MPC Studio. Like MPC Renaissance, it’s a controller, going head to head with the likes of Native Instruments Maschine. MPC Studio uses the same software as it’s larger sibling.
While I am disappointed that MPC Renaissance appears to be just a controller and an interface, I definitely see why Akai would release a model like this. After having used Maschine for some time I have to admit I was initially wrong and tell you that it is a killer concept for some. Maschine, Spark, MPC Studio… Finally we have a little to choose from. It will be interesting to see which turns out to be the best.

From my understanding and viewing the I/O section on the rear of the unit, I was lead to believe that it can be used as an stand alone unit or an controller like the Maschine. The MPC Studio on the other hand seems to be more in line with the Maschine concept.
