A new “no-brainer” deal from audioMIDI, Nomad Factory British Bundle for $30. The bundle consists of NEQ-1972, a four-band EQ emulating the Neve 1081, and the MCL-2269, emulating the Neve 2254.
I haven’t tried them. Feel free to chime in if you have.
Offer ends 4/12/09 at midnight.

Hopely, you means “Offer ends 4/12/10 at midnight”.
I keep catching myself at /0… NO Backspace /10! That zero keeps sucking me in. Anyone using these plugins? The deal looks tempting.
I’ve gotta say… I bought Blueverb and the Analog Trackbox for $20 during a recent “no-brainer” deal. And I kind of wish I had my $20 back. Not impressed with Nomad.
aLf: Thanks for the notice! Actually, I copy and pasted the date from the press release so hopefully THEY mean 2010

same here, if anyone wants them i’m selling both
DITO,
I cannot comment on the British but I also got the TrackBox. Kinda nice LoFi, so I bought because you never know. But don´t think I want anything more from Nomad.
I know a ton of plugs I like better but they cost a lot more.
So, you SHOULD demo the bundle to see if you like it or just to learn the difference.
While your surfing NoBrainer deals I the def. CAN recommend the XILS 3!
I bought Blueverb and don’t mind it. Definite upgrade over D-Verb. I’ve tried some of their other plugins but wasn’t particularly impressed with them. Give me Channel G Compact any day of the week.
I bought the trackbox to use as a colouring effect and I rather like it. Definitely not an every track plug-in though. I skipped on the Blueverb but i decided to go for the British bundle. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. The NEQ-1972 can be pushed quite hard without distortion and felt satisfying to use. However the ‘vintage’ switch, which adds some extra harmonic distortion also adds quite a lot of noise. Which is a shame really because the harmonic distortion itself sounds great. The MCL-2269 is much more aggressive than I anticipated and I found that I had to play around with the threshold and input gain more than I usually would to get a good sound. It does very subtle well, adding some fatnes to vocals and snares, and it does ‘stun mode’ very well, smashing drum kits and bass guitars into submission(in a good way). I did however find it hard to get an in between setting though. For $300 I would feel like I had wasted the money on this bundle. For $30 though, its a friggin steal. I can easily imagine having at least a few instances of each of these plugs on every session that I am working on.
Thanks for your opinions everyone!
Just ordered the British bundle after hearing some samples and reading lots of opinions.
The general census is that the EQ compares well to the Waves SSL and UAD plugs, whereas the comp is so-so depending on who you talk to.
For the money its 10 pounds a plugin, to me thats Oxfam prices, lol.
ps. Also check out Digital Village, their selling all their EMU libraries for £7.99 and yes, it includes the Pro 88 Steinway piano.
