Studio Devil Amp Modeler Pro v1.1 – now with RTAS support
Studio Devil has released version 1.1. of Amp Modeler Pro. Amp Modeler Pro for VST and AU has been out for quite some time but now it’s also available in RTAS.
The update is free for registered users. There’s also discounts available for owners of Virtual Guitar Amp and Virtual Bass Amp. If you own VGA the price is $99, if you own VBA $109, and if you own both $79. The discount is good until March 30th. The regular price for Amp Modeler Pro is $149.
I downloaded their free british amp sim a while back – it’s really pretty decent, and you can’t beat the price. It’s a fun one to fire up and crank your monitors – these guys do tubes pretty well I must say.
The most useful sim tone I keep coming back to is the “sweet” model in Waves GTR tool rack, which really works great with strat/tele type guitars, for that “distorted but clean” tone that seems to work best in a mix – you can try that one for a full year. Which is kind of like a crack dealer saying “smoke up for a few weeks and I’ll get back to ya”. (The spring reverb in that package is pretty realistic in a mix, too, and they did a good job on their cabinets). $149 when the year is up.

I’m excited to finally try this new version out as of its RTAS release. I was really impressed with the original, and Pro seems to have a few more important features that were missing/lacking from the former.
