McDSP news: new plug-ins and AU at NAMM

McDSP has announced that finally non-Pro Tools users will have access to McDSP plug-ins in the form of AU. I’ve said more than one time in the past that McDSP is actually one of the reasons to use Pro Tools so I consider this a blow against Avid. But I’m happy! Finally I can use ML4000, Channel G and Analog Channel in Live. They will show the plug-ins at NAMM, but we of course already know what they got to offer.

What we don’t know is what the new plug-ins will be. They have stated that they’re working on some very eye catching plug-ins that will blow you away!”. That of course remains to be seen, but I have much faith in McDSP. I’ll be sure to check out their booth at NAMM and give you the full story.

There are 10 kickass comments ~ what do you think?

  1. I guess they will make a fortune with going AU, considering the AU Market is 1000 times bigger than the PT market.

  3. Again as you say a blow against AVID. McDSP has always been a loyal ally of Digidesign. I posted a reply on protoolerblog yesterday about a rumour on the DUC that AVID is (supposedly) going to drop M-Powered. Which comes just a few days after Mackie announcing M-Powered compatibility for the ONYXi range. Will AVID/Digi/Protools see the end of 2010 might be the big question….

  4. Yes, Happy New Year to all people here! :)

@J~P: you have a link for that rumor? Seem I missed that. For Me, honestly it sounds rather unsubstantial. Considering the size of the base of M-Powered and M-Audio Stuff.

But my guess is: it means that they will be merging LE and MP. Seems a logical step, since they introduced Essential.

  9. I’d love to see them porting to PC VST too, so I can use them in Samplitude Pro 11.

One other thing, would be mkII versions of the AC1 and AC2 plugins, with enhanced algos and new GUIs in the line of the Retro Pack.

There is a word about some BIG names in the pro audio plugins industry working on tape-sat plugins for 2010…

And with the recent wave of plugins like Wave Arts Tube Saturator, SoundToys Decapitator, 112dB Redline Preamp (coming end january), URS Saturation V2.5, Variety of Sound FerricTDS, VirSyn VTAPE and Voxengo VariSaturator, there is some heavy competition in there.

Also, a BIG wish would be to get Digidesign Smack! and Reel Tape Suite work as PC VST/Mac AU, but hey, it’s good to be a dreamer…
