The RNDigital Labs drama continues…

Seriously, what the fuck is going with this company?

From the RNDigital Labs Twitter feed:

RNDigital Labs tells :: we are out of business because some small minded bricks are not interrested in good plugs. http://rndigitallabs.com

Their website address brings up something that doesn’t look right at all.

With all the crap that’s been going on around this company it’s hard to tell if they’ve been hacked, are out of business or some nut job better suited for a mental institution simply gained control of the company. Which begs the question: who is in control? I would email them and ask to get the full story, but I have no clue who I should contact.

It’s a shame really. They were among the most innovative plug-in companies out there.

  1. “It’s a shame really. They were among the most innovative plug-in companies out there.”

You mean to buy Elemental Audio is then double the prices is really inovative?

    By wurst ~ November 12, 2009 kl 6:12 am

  2. No you’re right. Badly phrased. They had some of the most innovative plug-ins and technologies at their disposal. Better? ;)

    By stiff ~ November 12, 2009 kl 6:21 am

  3. yep.

  5. Hhhmmmm… Not sure what’s happening here. Reacting on reactions: wasn’t it that RN started a company with elemental, renamed everything and make it more expensive? Than the big fight over names and rights and the elemental guy continuing under a sort of different RN name…. They should have re-renamed it elemental…

  6. What is interesting is that both Roger Nichols RN site as rndigital.org are gone… :)

    By J~P ~ November 12, 2009 kl 8:01 am

  7. WHAT!!!!?????

I hope this is not true! OH MY BAD DAY.
One of the few softwares I REALLY care for.
(Elemental Audio AND the latest RNDigital Labs installment)

I mostly suspect Roger Nichols to be the reason.
I always behaved like a dickhead in this matter.

    I cannot sleep tonight.

  9. PS. I recently had a nice discussion about IXL2.0 with one of the programmers of RND. I just sent him a message on his private contact. Maybe he will reply.

  10. I received an email from them several weeks ago to tell me the website would be down and not to worry, it would take a couple of weeks to be up again. I tossed it so can’t offer more than that recollection but it would seem it was anticipated and owners of products were notified of some temporary offline situation ;-)

  17. hey. i posted this on gearslutz last month after seeing some very strange things on the RNDigital site:

    “RNDigital: paranoia or sabotage?
hi. i went by RNDigital today to see if there was anything new with Inspector and here’s what I found:

    Dear RNDigital Labs Customer,

on 10/01/2009 our website rndigitallabs.com and our e-mail system has been illegally taken over by our former colleague Bastian Schnürle and his company Silberstein GbR.

Apparently, out of a dispute about the looks of Inspector XL 2 Bastian has decided to illegally attempt a take over of the RNDigital Labs operation.

Hence, the staff at RNDigitallabs Inc. has been unable to regain control of our website and Bastian has released some unapproved versions of our plug-ins.

We have at this time no choice but to shut down all operations and cease the sale of RNDigital Labs software.

there are some strange things going on over there.
    too bad. i like inspector.”

    By marco ~ November 13, 2009 kl 1:54 pm

  18. Yes, this is Reinhold Probst´s version of the truth.

here´s what I gathered on Information over time:

Fact is that Probst and Nichols just forked over the cash and let Schnürle all alone do ALL the work (Coding, Grafix, Support, Website etc.).
And they paid Schnürle a salary only be can be described as self-exploitation on his side, effectivly.

If you check your support mails from RND it´s always and only Schnürle replying all the time.

So Schnürle HAD to make some decisions, the boss did not like in the end. And that´s how it is now.
Seems Probst has the biggest ego of them all.

Essentially Probst makes his money with Power Plant supplies ( http://www.dilo.com ). So he had effectivly no clue how the plug-in/software buisness works. And also Nichols, who was only doing this just for fun, may have showed some dedication but he did not get along with Probst, as history shows.

And finally Schnürle has, as far as I understand it, also some partner-options of the company but Probst owns RND, in the end. So ‘illigal’ is a bit too far fetched.

  19. I am both scandalized AND bored.

Which one of these guys are going to sing “I Always Behaved Like A Dickhead In This Matter”?

Sounds like they all are pretty good candidates.

  20. it´s also true that all hell broke loose over the dispute about IXL2. But it was only the straw that broke the camels neck.

so for those who want to work with the 2.0 version here´s a download link:

    http://www.silberstein.de/ex-rndigital/PlugInstaller/MAC/InspectorXL_2_0.dmg.zip

this is still iLOK protected software!
Don´t bother to download if you
do not have a license for it!

    By dyscode ~ November 14, 2009 kl 6:39 am

  21. hope maybe somehow between all the lawsuits that I’d expect may be ongoing they can at least sell the IP to a new company who won’t c*ck things up as much as they did. all this BS aside they ARE excellent, excellent plug-ins!!!!

    By terminal3 ~ November 14, 2009 kl 8:38 am

  25. I’m very sad to see this thing going on too.
These are among my very favorite plugs.
I actually bought the whole collection and had big expectations regarding their future.
I really hope they find the best way out, with respect for each other and for us, the customers who support them.

    By Nuno ~ December 21, 2009 kl 4:54 am

  26. By the way, is there any kind of moderation here?

    By Nuno ~ December 21, 2009 kl 5:05 am

  27. Nuno, what do you mean moderation?

    By stiff ~ December 24, 2009 kl 6:09 am

  28. I bought the whole package as well – I love the Detailer and Finis 3 is pretty impressive (and I’m only an Amateur/Preset User….).
Not Waves but more imaginative than most Waves perhaps.. someone buy the company and promote it properly?

    By AndyL ~ December 24, 2009 kl 3:13 pm

  29. Hi stiff, thanks for asking.

When I say moderation I mean some kind of supervision over idiotic comments like the one made by horse.
(by the way, horses are actually very noble animals)

    By Nuno ~ January 7, 2010 kl 1:58 pm

  30. Well, yeah, sort of. I’ve removed maybe a total of 5 comments aside from pure spam during the entire existence of ProTooler. They’ve all been personal assaults, which is really the only thing that I consider being totally out of line. Usually stupid comments stand, but more often than that people actually behave here…!

    By stiff ~ January 7, 2010 kl 4:54 pm

  31. the link to the following RNDigital software was the official place where you downloaded your RNDigital installers since RND existed.
But since the Frontend of RND is down this link provides the backend access to the Installers.

    USER: anonymous@silberstein.de
    URL: http://ftp.silbertein.de
    MODE: anonymous

NOTE: Silberstein Media Company IS the developer of all RND software and in order to use this software you need a valid RNDigial license (iLok or serial).
This is a service for the user base.

    By dyscode ~ January 26, 2010 kl 8:31 pm

  32. fortget the links above.

    the correct sever is:
    http://ftp.silberstein.de

you do NOT need the DIR entry.

    best

    By dyscode ~ January 27, 2010 kl 6:58 am

  33. So, maybe Silberstein Media Company could buy the licensing of those plugins and release them under their own name. I really found Uniquelizer 2 to be the perfect swiss army knife EQ for post (especially when dealing with noisy dialogues). I’m waiting for it to be back.

    By Benji ~ January 29, 2010 kl 12:03 pm

  34. Aaaaaaagh. I’m just STILL trying to find a way to get a version of Firium and Equium which work on 10.5 or 10.6! I have the 2.0 EA versions, but I never upgraded to the RND versions because I didn’t need to. But starting last July I tried, and tried, and tried to Crossgrade and every time I attempted, the transaction didn’t go through. RND tech support typically got back to me within a week each time, but eventually, they just disappeared…and now I see why. Damnit! I purchased these plugins and SURE would like to be able to continue to use them…. I’m trying the Linked in Connection… If anyone gets any new word on this situation with EA/RND – I’d love to hear it.

    By vanceg ~ February 13, 2010 kl 8:56 pm

  35. zup, i have fireq and uniquelizer demo versions, u still need ilok or codes.
i can exchange for d4 demo also. dinamyzer

  37. So Bastian seems to be a good guy to me.
He told me the business went of on 062010…

I hope some company will take it over and resell the stuff and serve the one’s who already own the stuff of RND…

Most of the software mastering tools distorting the end signal (some people like it, i not)…
    It’s real good stuff.
I bought it in 2007, tried some other software as T-Racks or Izotope but the tools of RND are so much better to work with…

I hope someone will take it over maybe Bastian, if we all together can help him with a bundeled hand he maybe would like to take it over and bring it somewhere so the tools can go on and on…

    What can we do !!!!!!!

Take our Signs together and send him a letter or something !!!

Maybe Bastian can tell us how we can organize this together with all the users of the RND stuff !!!

    Best Regards, P.

  38. A little misunderstood from me,

Bastian told me that the business went of on 102009 but as said, it seems to me as a good guy…

I still hope that there will be anyone who is gonna take the stuff over and serve the customers…
We payed and trusted the guys from RND !!!
