Ohm Force announce drastic price changes

Ohm Force is doing something not so common in the plug-in world: reducing the prices of their entire product line, not as part of a promotion, but “for real and forever” to quote our French buddies.

From the Ohm Force press release:

When we say dropping prices, we really mean it: not only the plug-ins licenses are globally MUCH more affordable when purchased individually, the big ALL-ALL Bundle can now be grabbed by only 299€. By the way, we’ve benefited from the moment to tide up our bundle’s section and now live performers can choose the ALL-Live Bundle, containing the 3 from which features are specially suitable for live tweaking: Ohmicide:Melohman, Symptohm:Melohman and the Quad Frohmage – the three for only 199€. The first two, as the Melohman part of the name suggests, have extended preset morphing capabilities: it’s possible to morph from one preset on the fly to another using a midi keyboard controller, with a full set of configurable parameters. The latter is one of the most powerful filter banks out there, with an advanced XADSR module, 6 midi controlled envelope followers, 6 event generators, among many other killer features.

Most of the Ohm Force line is fun in my opinion but Ohmicide and Hematohm have a special place in my heart. Ohmboyz is a great delay for more FX type things. If you’re looking for radical processors and weird FX, you must check out the Ohm Force line.

Sorry for the big ad, but I couldn’t find a good comparison chart at their website so I took the picture from their press release.

You already know Ohm Force’s mindset. It’s just about reading our mails or taking a look at our whacky website to realize that we have never had a corporate approach of what we do. We’re a 100% indie company, with no investors behind us, just a bunch of friends working on an old apartment office near a train station, trying to do everything by ourselves. Of course we’re glad to sell plugins for superstars, but we’re even happier when an indie youngster makes the effort to invest in some Ohm Force plugins to pimp his home-studio. There are still so many new talents out there to be heard, so let’s spend less, and produce more!

Kudos to you Super Ohm Bros! May the wickedry be with you and keep bringing us the goods.

    Love it.

“For Real and Forever” may just now be the name of my publishing company.

More more more!!! Plugins have only development and marketing costs, no manufacturing, storage, packaging, or delivery. Affordable volume should trump higher prices when done right.

With home recording exploding like desktop publishing did in the 80s/90s and digital SLRs and Video today, (see the new iPhone 4-track recorder app, or Line 6′s partnership with p-head for “record”) the market’s right for Massey/112DB-style operations, or even the big guys doing stripped-down but useful plugs with high-end code (See SPL micro plugs for example). Consumers who get deeper into it could upgrade to fuller versions. Just don’t strip down the audio quality.

This is a perfect “get it right and lead the way” market. An let’s see “rent to own” accounts from guys like Waves – rent for a mix, get it credited towards purchase.

And while I’m at it, it’s time for a prosumer-oriented surround sound mixing / DVD authoring / burning app, too (I wouldn’t use it myself, but I see a big hole in the market…)
