112dB updates Redline Equalizer to 1.0.2 – crucial for RTAS users

112dB has updated their Redline Equalizer to version 1.0.2. It’s a maintenance release, but from the list of fixes it seems it’s an important one.

From the 112dB press release:

- Option to invert dynamic behavior for cuts (making it identical to
boosts).
- Right mouse button adjusts Q from the EQ screen.
- -left click (and now right click) from the EQ screen no longer
controls frequency.

- Fixed crash on SSE (non-SSE2) processors (AMD Athlon XP, Pentium
3).
- Latency compensation corrected for Cubase 4/5 (and possibly other
hosts).
- Settings didn’t save in Pro Tools.
- Pro Tools compare functionality didn’t work.
- L/R and M/S channel modes didn’t render properly in Wavelab.
- Fixed stuttering in Reaper when instantiating plugin.
- VST version loads faster.
- Numerical value entry (by double clicking a control) slowed down or
hanged some systems.
- Plugin crashed when quitting Bias Peak Pro.

Presets to the people

This weekend I’ve been hit by two ‘preset news’.

  • Waves has uploaded presets by Yoad Nevo (Bryan Adams, Jem, Pet Shop Boys, Sugababes).
  • SoundsDivine is selling 128 patches for the D-CAM Strobe synthesizer for the price of $25.

Sonalksis ‘Scorching summer promotion’

Here I was thinking the summer was over when all of a sudden Sonalksis is running a “scorching summer promotion”. That’s OK with me if it’s a good deal. The offer this time is 70% discount on Multi-band dynamics.

From the Sonalksis press release:

The CQ1 is a multi-band compander like no other. Compress or expand any frequencies with the ultimate precision, either ‘above’ or ‘below’ a threshold. The underlying dynamic EQ means that the audio is never actually divided into separate bands like standard multi-band processors, so the CQ1 is suitable for a much broader range of applications.

The DQ1 is based on the same analogue EQ circuits as our award winning SV-517 EQ, but with completely dynamic operation, so the filters ‘morph’ according to the audio signal. The DQ1 is a totally unique type of audio processor, so if you are unfamiliar with the concept, check out this simple ‘Quick Start Guide’.

Snow Leopard support “coming soon”

Snow Leopard is out, but as long time Protoolers know, it often isn’t wise to upgrade until Avid says so. As long time readers know, I usually update day one anyway to beta test for you. This time I might however, I’m in the middle of something that can’t be messed up in any way. I might still try on one computer, we’ll see.

Anyway, M-Audio has stated that Snow Leopard support is coming soon, and that this is not only narrowed down to the M-Audio hardware line, but includes Pro Tools as well.

From the M-Audio press release:

Avid/M-Audio is pleased to hear that Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. We’ve been working closely with Apple to bring Snow Leopard support to the M-Audio® product line, as well as the Pro Tools® product line and extended product families. We ask that all existing Mac users please wait to upgrade until we officially announce Snow Leopard support. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

As we all know, “soon” is relative, so we’ll see.
