Audio Ease releases ‘Cabinet’

Audio Ease, creators of Speakerphone and Altiverb, has released Cabinet – a new plug-in intended for the guitarist.

From the Audio Ease press release:

Well, we know we have something really good to offer, but it’s a bit tucked away: the Speaker Cabinet collection of our plug-in Speakerphone is quite something. But Speakerphone is pricey, and because it is a 6 gigabyte plug-in, there is no demo download either. So how are guitarists going to find out how Speakerphone’s magical combo of a studio recording live room the cabinet, a bunch of microphones and a spring reverb can sound ?

Well, ‘Cabinet’ (Mac Windows RTAS AU Mas Vst) is just for that. It shows of 5 of our favorite cabs from Speakerphone, a good live room, the best spring reverb and a bunch of mics. All real samples, convolution based, in Audio ease’s award winning quality. Cabinet is not the ultimate shredder pre-amp, but it most definitely is the ultimate final stage for your guitar tone (and it will breathe the real world into your synths as well)

I’ve not used Speakerphone for guitar amping much, but I will tell you that for one song – ‘Blues genom två väggar’ (’blues through two walls’) – I used Speakerphone just like that, emulating an electric guitar played two walls away. I was very happy with the results and wish I could share them with you today. It really sounds like a guitar amped played two walls away.

Cabinet is a small download, and has a 30 day demo after which at $59 USD / 49 EUR it is quite affordable too.

Cabinet is cheap compared to the competition. If you’re not looking for an all-out package, with virtual stomp boxes and the like, Cabinet might just be for you. It will bring some stiff competition to Eleven and Softubes Amp Rooms for sure. Let us know what you think if you try it.
