This week you can expect percussion in the form of bamboo and gongs, a new Reason ReFill and more.

UVI Soundsource has released an UVI Soundpack called Spirit of Gongs, featuring 80 ancient gongs and related percussion. Cool idea. Check the top video for more. Remember that the UVI stuff is a little special in that you need either the free UVI player or MachFive2.

Cinesamples has announced, not released, Hollywoodwinds. Information is scarce, other than the statement “bringing the woodwind section back into cinematic scoring“, which I find intriguing. But building u a sound library before the release? I don’t know, there’s a good chance I’ll forget about it or get something else before late summer/fall when it’s supposed to be released.

Tonehammer continue to be innovative with their latest release Bamblong, a bamboo log drum. The Bamblong is described by Tonehammer as “a small tuned percussion instrument, similar in principle to a marimba. It has 4 bamboo resonance chambers, roughly ranging between 1½ – 2¼ inches wide and 8 – 14 inches long, with sound holes in the top of each “. You can listen to it at the product page.

Electron Smasher, available at Big Fish Audio, sounded interesting. Reading the description, I don’t think it’s for me (but maybe for you, that’s why I’m kind enough to post about it).
