IK Multimedia announces T-RackS 3

IK Multimedia has announced the third version of their mastering software T-RackS. T-RackS gained much popularity in many home “studios” when it was released, not least thanks to computer recording magazines getting behind it. Most Pro Tools users are probably familiar with it since a lightweight version of it has come bundled with all Digidesign systems for quite some time now.
T-RackS 3 features 9 processors comprised of 3 new analog and vintage emulations, 2 new digital processors and the 4 classic T-RackS processors.
New T-RackS processors:
1. Vintage Tube Compressor/Limiter model 670 (based on the Fairchild 670)
2. Vintage Tube Program Equalizer (based on the Pultec EQP-1A)
3. Opto compressor (based on “the finest mastering Opto-compressor” according to IK)
4. Intelligent, multi-algorithm Brickwall limiter
5. High precision, high definition Linear Phase
Classic T-RackS processors:
1. Classic T-RackS Compressor
2. Classic T-RackS Multi-band Limiter
3. Classic T-RackS Clipper
4. Classic T-RackS Equalizer
From IK Multimedia:
- New configurable mastering/mixing chain – run up to 12 parallel/series processors
- New complete built-in metering section with Peak, Perceived Loudness, Phase, and RMS meters, plus a Spectrum analyzer with Peak, RMS and Averaging indicators
- New standalone and plug-in versions available in the same package for use in all the most popular native DAWs
- New high-fidelity oversampling with crystal clear transparency, for high quality audio processing throughout the entire signal path
- New SCC™ technology coupled with IK’s unique DSM™ technology provides the most realistic software emulation of vintage gear to date
- Extremely easy to use, with style-based presets, full chain visualization, one-click single module or chain bypass, “compare” function, multiple audio processing in standalone mode, and much more
T-RackS 3 comes in 2 versions:
1. T-RackS 3 Deluxe Crossgrade, special Deluxe reduced-price version for all IK registered users has a retail price of $299.99/€229.99 and not €199 as previously stated, see comments.
2. T-RackS 3 Standard, the 4 classic T-RackS processors in the new framework, has a retail price of $199.99/€149.99.
Both versions will be availablein stores and in the IK online shop by November 10th, 2008.

I haven’t touched T-Racks since I realised version 1 was fooling around with the stereo image (i.e. tracks with sounds panned hard left or right

I haven’t touched T-Racks since I realised version 1 was fooling around with the stereo image (i.e. tracks with sounds panned hard left or right would have those sounds in both channels to some degree when put through T-Racks). This looks pretty sweet, though.

How many more 670’s will there be for protools. What about a 670 shootout? Who made them so far? IK, Bombfactory, Waves (puigchild), Universal Audio, Nomad (lm662) and there’s one in the Focusrite Liquid….right?

That makes 6 670’s…. I want to hear the differences!!!

HI,
The pricing was changed on the Deluxe Crossgrade for Euro…
It’s €229.99.
here where it says:
-RackS 3 Deluxe Crossgrade, special Deluxe reduced-price version for all IK registered users has a retail price of $299.99/€229.99.
Please modify it to read correctly.
Thanks,
Starr

Hi Starr. I changed the pricing, but I’ not happy about it
J~P: A 670 shootout and Spotlight is not a bad idea. Unfortunately I don’t have either UA or the Liquid Mix. I’m not sure about Waves, they usually don’t help out for things like this.

Stiff: no, we’re running http://www.soundpeople.dk - a producers forum in Denmark - and Waves, Focusrite etc. doesn’t even respond, when we write them and ask for ways to review their stuff.

Nice site!
I think Waves has a policy to only help out magazines and not websites. It’s their loss.

I was wondering if these plugs can be loaded on inserts with out the whole interface with the meters and spectrograph Like the old versions???
Also I’v seen a huge track delay in protools when used on an audio insert????
By Dog ~ November 13, 2008 kl 1:35 am
I have the same track delay problem with T-Racks 3 as an insert. It’s really quite bad.
However, the 670 emulation is one of the best sounding software compressors I’ve ever heard. Sounds truly analog. Really worth a try. The Pultec EQ emulation is great too.
For me, the quality of the plugs are good enough to live with the delay shortcoming..

Are there different versions that accommodate mixing or have they just kept to the mastering part???
By Dog ~ November 20, 2008 kl 9:37 pm
I don’t think this version of T-Racks is meant for mixing at all
It says it’s ADC compatible but protools LE and M-Power don’t support ADC
Would be nice to be able to load one Plug on a track not the whole interface!!!!!
