New Digidesigns products pricing – according to Sweetwater

For some reason the original post disappeared so I’ll post this again. This time with a history lesson. Gather around children!

As stated in hundreds – if not thousands of billions – threads on the DUC, Sweetwater has now published the pricings for most of the new Digidesign products.

May I ask that you take a seat sir…

Complete Production Toolkit – $1,995.00.

003 Rack+ Factory – $1549.97 (List Price: $1,695.00)

Video Satellite LE – $250.00

Pro Tools LE/M-Powered 8 – $149.95

Pro Tools HD 8 – $249.95

I admit that I don’t remember how much the last upgrade was, but I seem to recall the upgrade price being $75 for LE and $150 for HD since quite some time back?

Was what I had written in the previous post that disappeared. I couldn’t get it out of my head so I looked into it. After some digging this is what I came up with:

Pro Tools HD 6: $195. from 5.x
Pro Tools LE 6: $75 from 5.x

Pro Tools HD 7: $175
Pro Tools LE 7: $75

Pro Tools HD 7.3: $199 Standard Upgrade; $79 from Pro Tools HD 7.2
Pro Tools LE 7.3: $75 Upgrade from Pro Tools LE 6.x; $49 from Pro Tools LE 7.x

So I was a little off on the HD pricing. Still, the LE version has seen a 100% raise. Way more than I had expected.

The Complete Production Toolkit price has caused some angry voices. I’m not sure what to think. I believe it’s a few hundred $ more than the list price of the DV Toolkit and Music Production Toolkit together. And just to be perfectly clear, I’m talking list now. Personally I would’ve placed it lower than the two together, but I’m just a silly bufoon who don’t understand business very well. I haven’t seen anything about upgrade pricings from MPT or DVT to neither the newer versions, nor to the CPT. I really hope Digidesign lets current owners get the new versions free and offer a good upgrade price to CPT.

I haven’t heard anything about the new keyboard for the D-Command.

Call me paranoid or skeptical beyond healthy measures, but I’m not sure these actually are the final pricings just because Sweetwater has them.

What a Ripoff $2000.00 to get 128 tracks of audio and no ADC! Whats that good for with no ADC.
wait till the hype dies down, this is just ridiculous. WTF Digi, are people made out of Gold! Stop the BS Nickel and dimeing.

I love how M-Powered users are left out of the DVT and CPT upgrade =/ Oh, how I should have gone the LE route.

As for current MPTK and DVT owners, I really do hope that the upgrade to version 2 is free. Knowing Digi, they’ll be milking us some more.

$2000.00 for CPT lol = Straight up BS! ProTools 8 looks pretty cool for the most part. Let see how it operates now.
