the interface all too much reminds me of a one night stand involving Cubase and Logic, and the baby that was the result... PT8 new interface... Is it hideous? of course not, but a much more rounded zen type of of architecture, so that isn't all bad right? I do however like the two options for Color Palette being Saturation and Brightness... Brightness being my favorite, the other was just a shortcut key only (Control+Option+Command)- drag on a desired color neatly dressed button with a familliar name (Saturation). I guess More ___ (insert color there), was a bit too long for the help quick tip pop ups

I'm not going to worry too much about the pan knob not being a mini-fader until I've seen what a stereo track looks like. Having independent control on the left and right pans is really helpful for bringing the width down on effects-heavy synths.

About the AIR effects: as far as I could see there are a lot of the same plug ins:
reverb, spring reverb, frequenty shifter, distortion, fuzz, flanger, dynamic delay, gate... But as there is a spring reverb and a fuzz I guess it IS taken from the air plug ins. So my hopes are up for some of those weirder transfuser type plug ins. I love the way it looks to be...but please... NO TIGER? WOT?

yeah, well, I guess you are right with all of the above....
But Leopard only, I don´t know, really.... hate to put that on my G5 Dual 2,7.....
I still think 10.5.5. is not stable enough, I find 10.4.9 thru 10.4.11 much more stable.....

hmpf!!

Good to see you hear again Andreas ;)

I'm split about the new look as well. I think it's one of those things that's really too hard to comment on before actually spending some considerable time with.

Tiger compatibility: from what I've gathered, still not got an official comment on it, it looks like a no go.

Available: I've heard November, but it seems it very well could be December. I don't think Digidesign themselves know yet.

Hey, Stiff,
I spent all morning on the digi site, looking at PT8.
Man, I don´t know.....
I LOVE the new feature, but the look??? hmmmm....
looks like logic, too grey.... can we get an option for a look like PT 7.4 please????

pan rotary knobs are bullshit.... the sliders were much better!!!!

10 inserts... ok, who needs it.....

notation is GREAT!!!

Mini Grand piano, Boom drum machine, DB-33 tonewheel organ, as well as Vacuum and Xpand!2 synths - GREAT!!!

elastic pitch - yesssssssss!! no more need for melodyne plug in, I never bought! :-)

we´ll see how it performs....
I´ll start with LE first, and leave my HD Rig with 7.4 until I know it works!!

Any infos yet about Tiger Compatibility with PT8??
and when will PT be available?

Cheers,
Andi
