A slightly messy name, but not much else is new. Still, I understand why Digidesign choose to release this new 003. Why? Because people have been bitching about getting eight stock preamps since the 002! Me? I couldn’t give a damn. I like the occasional odd external preamp to fill out the 003′s four stock. But, for people starting out, or people recording full bands where you need 10+ preamps, buying all those externals can be a pricey business. I think they’ve made some people happy.

And, because we buy a more expensive 003, we also loose 1 midi out…
