Korg M50… Looks familiar

A fifteen pound heavy, reasonably priced workstation ($1,499 or $2,499 depending on keys). Cool, but what’s new? Sorry lads and lassies - beats me!

I’m really their target audience here. I’ve been looking at something like this from time to time for a few years and will probably buy one when the time is right. The price is probably at around what I will pay so I’m really talking about something like this and not the Oasys. I can’t help but think “what’s new?”. Seriously, what are the imporvements that have been made in the workstation area since the Trinity? Yeah, it has a little more memory (256 MB, and yes, that is MEGABYTES), probably a better sounding piano and some inspirational tools in there as well, but I really fail to see the revolutinary concepts that the years old workstations doesn’t have. I guess what I’m asking for is a reason to kick out Kontakt 3. Let me know Korg! Or Yamaha or Roland, or whoever dares to take me on.

I don’t mean to come out sounding like a negative asshole. After all, it looks fairly good, has a touch screen (OK, that can get me to buy stuff!), looks portable, has hardware knobs that all software lacks. The knobs unfortunately looks like Korgs hardware have done for some years now - cheap and plastic. It looks inspirational though, I’ll give them that.

There are videos and sound examples on Korgs website.
