Groovebox Music has released Brainwerks: Pro Tools Operator… by me!

Groovebox Music has released Brainwerks: Pro Tools Operator which is actually made by me. It’s a Pro Tools tutorial DVD with over 2 hours of material. It won’t teach you how to mix, but shows some ways you can work with Pro Tools that I think goes beyond the manual. Groovebox says it’s for intermediate to advanced users.
You can view the contents here on Groovebox website.
I find it a bit weird to post the press release here when I’m the man behind it so instead I’ll just direct you to the page on Groovebox Music where you can read more about it. You can of course ask any questions right here in the comments field that you might have about it.

Very cool, Stefan.

Congratulations! I can’t wait to see the “wacky ways”!!
“Presented by Pro Tools super genius Stefan Hedengren, this collection of Pro Tools video tutorials will show you the things you’ll use most, if you use Pro Tools as your main weapon of choice day in and day out. From the basics, such as I/O Setup and fast track creation, to more advance topics such as making stems and submixes, Elastic Time, and daily clean up, Stefan shows you his personal tricks and techniques in detail, and sometimes wacky way, to becoming a serious Pro Tools operator!”

Wacky… Yeah, I have no idea where they might have gotten that from. I’m a completely sane person. Makes me wonder if it’s actually my DVD they’re selling!

Can you hint some of the wacky ways for me? I’ll keep it a secret.
By Free Foe ~ August 11, 2008 kl 9:21 am
Sure you will!
By stiff ~ August 11, 2008 kl 9:25 am
Any promotion code available for previous groovebox purchases? I have all Kenny Gioia’s stuff.
Thanks

And remember people, it’s very good karma to buy it. Religions all over the world are united in this belief.

Holy shit, you have been busy.

Ashley, not that I’m aware of…
Jon, that’s what I keep telling people!

Hey Professor Stiff-
I just downloaded the Tutorial, and you friggin’ rock my man!
Lot’s of great stuff . . . Information and sly Humor.
By the way, you have a very good instructional ‘voice’ for this endeavor.
So, shall I put together a personal list of Tutorials that you need to make?
Great Job, Keep Going…
Very Best Regards,
Buel

NICE!!! ….Just that I bought 3 Goia copies about 2 weeks ago for a birthday and NOW you tell me that I could have bought yours back then with the “buy 3 save 20% discount”
I bought the poor chap Excel Protools 7 instead…. shame on me
But hey: I was an ignorant non-knower back then….
Seriously: good job.

Buel: “So, shall I put together a personal list of Tutorials that you need to make?”
Sure, why not
J~P: Thanks man. I’m sure you’ll be happy with the Gioia vids too… You won’t get better karma for the after life but you’ll surely learn a trick or two

*Update* I spent a few moments with my new download today; and I really liked the elastic time chapter!
I loved the advice in the Quick Tips section; –that’s honest “real world” advice! I haven’t listened to everything, but I felt I got a good sense of the DVD. Is it worth it? Yes! (It may seem a bit fast-paced for some of my beginners, but if you own it, you can watch it again and again and let it sink in!)
Did I find anything “Wacky” in the presentation? No, –some of Stiff’s opinions may differ from Digi’s official doctrine, but that’s a good thing. You don’t become a Pro-tools ninja by memorizing every keyboard shortcut; you do it by working “smart”.
Great job!

Thank you so much for the kind words Dr J! Really appreciate it.

Made a purchase, will check them out tomorrow
However, I am very disappointed by the lack of service provided (this time) by groovebox… Very disappointed! I had sent numerous e-mails to them (customer service and general) before making a purchase well over a week ago in order to discuss a coupon code discount (having purchased many a title previously), but have still yet to receive a reply. I have now sent another to ask for a rebate. I hope they reply.
Thanks,
Ash - a disgruntled customer (this time).

Hi stiff,
Wanted to say thank you for making the vids, I have watched them and found some comments quite funny
But, I unfortunately haven’t learnt anything new thus may reservedley ask for a refund
…unless groovebox (should they reply) are able to offer a free title for anything which may aid me via a future release.
Sorry to say this. I hope to hear back from you, and hope that you may pass on my comments to groovebox also so I DO receive a reply urgently.
Thanks.

Hey Ashley,
Sorry to see you didn’t like it
I’ll email Groovebox and let them know how you feel (can’t promise anything though, I don’t work for them).
By stiff ~ August 17, 2008 kl 1:00 pm
Thanks stiff, sorry too. V.good tuts for learning basics and session management with a few tips/tricks included, guess this just wasn’t for me but, props to you for your time and effort, I’m sure they’ll help a lot of beginners.
I do love vid tutorials for PT so hope for some mixing ones or something soon a la ‘Mix it Like a Record’.
By Ashley Smith ~ August 17, 2008 kl 2:11 pm
Re: mix tutorials. I think there’s also a lack of them. The problem is I think someone with a real track record of mixed albums should do it, something that I don’t have, nor strive for. Charles Dye’s is great, no doubt, but we must also remember that the methods he describes in his videos are far from what (at least I think) should be used on every kind of album. It’s more of a modern pop/rock thing than anything. A hiphop session, blues session, metal session or Swedish visa session could really be approached in a whole other way.
By stiff ~ August 17, 2008 kl 3:19 pm
I agree. Waves have done some good ones too, well worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Hey Ash,
Sorry you have not gotten our email responses. I have responded to each of your messages. We have had problems with Yahoo marking emails from our server incorrectly as SPAM or Junk mail. Unfortunately all of our efforts to remedy this dont seem to actually resolve the issues consistently.
Please check your junk or spam mail folder for any correspondence that may have been lost. I also sent you a reply from my personal yahoo account tonight.
I called a couple of days ago when I first realized you were not getting any responses and left a message about the discount, in addition to replying to your email. I also called this evening when I got your last email, however it was quite late in the UK and I woke someone (sorry) and you were not available. Sorry for calling late, just wanted to try and catch you any time I could.
I have issued a refund for your order, no problems there.
We pride ourselves on great customer service and I think if you search on the web you will see this backed up by our customer statements. I am very sorry for your problems and inconvenience. Also sorry to Stiff for having to clutter the message boards with support emails.
All the best,
Asa
