Eiosis releases the E²Transienter

The Eiosis transient designer E²Transienter (previous post) is now available. According to Eiosis it’s actually far more than a simple transient designer, and can be used in many situations, including high demanding mastering jobs.

Check out the video of the E²Transienter on their website and decide for yourself.

It is available now for MAC OSX with iLok in AU, RTAS and TDM formats.
VST, AU, RTAS formats for both OSX and Windows will be available soon with Syncrosoft.

  1. Looks quite impressive going by the videos, going to request the demo. As always, thanks for the heads up (thats why I stop by everyday!) :)

  2. btw, I picked this up myself and was sure to let them know where I saw it first :)

  3. Should also say, I bought this EXCLUSIVELY to convert beats and other audio into ‘glitch’ versions (as in ‘Oval, Neina, etc) at which it EXCELS! +Custom ‘run-out record groove’ music :)

Pretty much ‘off the mark’ of their target market I would guess but for me a ‘grail’ I have been searching for (aside I have wanted to ‘replace’ my SPL TD hardware for some time.)

Thanks again stiff for your ‘most excellent’ reportage and blog.

  4. Thanks a lot man! Your support is very much appreciated!

How do you use it with glitch stuff? By removing the voiced signal?

  5. ‘By removing the voiced signal?’

Exactly, I wind up with what might be described as the sound of a scratched record (minus any program material) BUT with the groove/rhythmic character of the ‘donor’ intact! A record groove groove you might say.

Given the flexibility of the ‘Attack’ section’s filters there is quite a range of effect to be had. (it’s like applying the Photoshop ‘Ink’ filter to a photograph and then playing with the ‘Blend’ modes if there are any Photoshop users here). I have even gotten that Oval ‘CD Skipping effect’ to a certain extent (beats drawing on the read side of my CD’s with a marker!) and some cool structured ‘tearing’ sounds too (I am weird in that I like noises like that).

I wrote Eiosis about this and Fabrice there seemed quite happy about this application because this particular ‘pure extraction’ ability was important for them in development, apparently only a specialized IRCAM (the French electro acoustic research facility) algorithm presently can do this .

As I mentioned, it has been a grail for me, interpreting program material into its pure transient information provides an ‘essence’ that could be applied in several creative ways I can think of . And of course, slowly bringing back in a very short ‘tail’ of the signal gives a cool gated vowel-like sound (like Reaktor’s ‘Vierring’ if you have heard it).

The ‘Gated’ preset is the best place to start, this switches E2 into ‘Attack Listen Only’.

  6. I just played around little with this, and it was very easy to achieve glitchy things. Glitch is not a music style I’m very familiar with, what would be some recommended listen to get into it?

  7. Start here:

Oval is considered by many to be the beginnings and you can listen to all the albums for free so a great way to get educated. From there, the ‘Clicks & Cuts’ were a definitive collection:

If it is something you become more interested in, let me know, it has become a much expanded genre now and there are several directions one can go if the ‘artifacts of the system as compositional material’ appeals to you.

    Also, check out ‘Gleetchlab’ here:

    http://www.gleetchplug.com/gleetchplug/Software.html

It’s free (he asks for a donation) and it has several ‘glitch’ tools, notably a ‘CD Skipper’ for recreating that Oval vibe :)

  8. Thanks. I’m taking this morning to educate myself in this strange music ;)
