Softube ships Metal Amp Room

Softube has announced the release of Metal Amp Room, a guitar amp modeleing plug-in for VST, AU and RTAS. Metal Amp Room is available today at the Softube web shop ($179 excl. VAT).
From the Softube press release
Metal Amp Room was designed to bring you the most brutal, evil and aggressive sound that is possible to squeeze out of your DAW. It was co-developed with Patrik Jensen (The Haunted) and tailored to his needs. The continuous mic placement from Vintage Amp Room is back, but this time with twin mics with adjustable stereo panning. Get a huge stereo sound with complex adjustable phasing effects, a plain old one-mic-right-against-the-cone, or anything in between. The cabinets were measured in the In Flames studio (previously known as Studio Fredman) by Tue Madsen and Patrik Jensen.
Focusing on usability and sound quality, this is a plug-in that is proud not to include a gazillion amps, effects racks, patch cords, or a blow-dryer. Just two channels, two cabinets, two mics per cabinet, and a wickedly fast noise gate for palm mute galore. Every setting is a setting that will sound good, so it’s almost impossible to get a useless sound. Metal Amp Room is a real workhorse, a plug-in that will handle all your metal needs without ever getting in your way.
A fully functional 10 day demo can be downloaded from their website.

Hi Niklas !
can you give me a short description on what Amps are modelled ?
Hi Dirk,
Metal Amp Room is based on an Engl Powerball amp, but we added a crunch channel which is based on a JCM800. It contains two different 4×12 cabinets with two mics each (an SM57 and AKG C414) which can be used in parallel. It was developed together with Patrik Jensen, the guitarist from The Haunted, and we measured the cabinets in the famous “In Flames”-studio (previously known as Studio Fredman) together with producer Tue Madsen and Patrik Jensen.
Dirk:
the powerball is a 4 channel amp..you said that you added a jcm chrunch channel..
means that it is 5 channels or is the engl crunch replaced by the marshall ??
also isn’t vintage amp room a jcm 8oo ?? why implement that double time ??
Niklas:
We only bothered with the two hi gain channels, but instead of simulating the crunch channel from the Engl, we inserted the same preamp as in the JCM800, but kept the EQ, power amp and other circuits from the Engl. So it’s not a classic JCM800, more of a hybrid. The reason for this is that we wanted to get two different types of distortion in the two channels. And we like the kind of distortion the JCM800 has.
But that doesn’t mean that it sounds like a JCM800, it’s more an Engl with a JCM type of distortion. And yeah, we boosted the input gain of the JCM so that you can get far more distortion from this hybrid than the JCM in Vintage Amp Room.
hi everyone !
this is a bit more information on MAR !!
