A software Tenori-On? My first thought was “meh”, but since I didn’t find any fun news to update with (which was what I was supposed to do) I figured I’d put blogging aside for this morning and instead try this version of the Tenori-On called Weepr… And also speculate a little about what we can use from this. … And I’m semi-interested. But first things first – have you heard of Receptor? It’s a box made by Muse loaded with plug-ins, sort of a hardware plug-in deal. I’ve kept an eye on it since I heard about it the very first time. Since then things have happened and you can get pretty cool workstations with it. Read more →

OK, I admit it, I’m moving towards becoming a ‘plug-in list junkie’. Despite my efforts of reducing my plug-in count and simplifying things I can’t help but think of new setups. Fortunately for me, I’m not only a plug-in list junkie, I’m also a music and recording junkie with more projects going at a time than a crossbreed of Frank Zappa and Samuel L Jackson. This abnormality opens up a new dimension to things. Read more →

Modartt has released Pianoteq 2.3, a free upgrade, with improved reverberation.
Modartt also continue on their physically modeled piano add-ons to Pianoteq. The latest is a copy of a harpsichord by Grimaldi dating from 1697, copiedby Andrew Wooderson (Bexley, 2007).
From the Modartt press release:
Typical of a short-scaled Italian instrument it has a crispness of attack and transparency of tone that makes it ideal for continuo use, and is also well suited to 17th and 18th Century Italian and German solo repertoire. Its two registers can be played separately or combined together. The Grimaldi harpsichord is part of the KIViR project with the aim tocreate virtual copies of historical keyboard instruments.
As always it’s available for free to customers of Pianoteq.
