Here’s the latest in Leopard news (from Digidesigns website):
Over the last several months, we have been working closely with Apple on fine tuning Pro Tools for OS X Leopard 10.5.3. Now that Apple has released version 10.5.3 we can enter the final stages of performance testing and quality assurance before making fully qualified versions of Pro Tools HD, LE and M-Powered software available to our customers.
As a convenience for our customers who may wish to begin their transition to Apple’s latest Leopard release as soon as possible, pre-release versions of Pro Tools 7.4.2 will be made available in the next few days. While the pre-release versions of Pro Tools 7.4.2 have passed core internal testing requirements, the process for manufacturing fully qualified Pro Tools software normally takes up to several weeks to complete depending on performance and stability.
Lets see, before 10.5.3, loading this project I’m working on in ProTools M-Powered took no time at all to load. Now, it takes forever. And glitches………it didn’t glitch in 10.5.2……The CPU (RTAS) is running really high……for no reason.
Digi is lame. They better have 7.4.2 out like by Friday……..or else

Ericdano, why are you complaining when you’re running software you know is unsupported?
Lets see, because a New MacPro comes with 10.5 by default………perhaps that is why? And you can’t install 10.4 off the installer disc that I have…..
Finally…. I mean… finally they’re at least TRYING. I have no delusions that pro tools might run stable. Pro Tools is NOT stable anyway. Hasn’t been for a decade now.
And I sure hope 10.5.3 fixes at least the most serious bugs with 10.5.X. Using 10.5.2 I now have more kernel panics and crashes in OS X than I could ever have while running Windows ME on a rusty old pentium 120. I hope this is all tasteless joke from Apple.

Well, it had issues installing. When I finally got it to install, it deleted all my preferences. Not a big deal I guess.
It works fine so far on my 8-core MacPro. The iMac I have in my studio is the one ProTools M-Powered was having tons of issues with. I’ll have to try that out tomorrow……
Good that some of your problems were solved, at least! I hate downtime… And it’s gotta be a pain to buy a spanking new computer when your major software doesn’t work on it. But why’d you upgrade to 10.5.3 if it was working in 10.5.2?
Hope the new prerelease works for you!
For those having trouble:
download the installer.
Copy your plugin presets to a backup folder.
Click on the Uninstall program and take Pro Tools off.
Reinstall PT and Core Audio with the installer.
Should work better.
