Stereo Tools – new freebie from Flux

Flux have released a new freebie plug-in called Stereo Tools for RTAS, AU and VST (Windows and OS X). Stereo Tool offers controls and visual feedback for the stereo stage.
From the Flux press release
Stereo Tool features ultra precise controls of input gain and individual pan for left and right channels. A phase inverter is available for each channel. A global stereo pan and a stereo width setting are also implemented to complete the management of the stereo signal.
Stereo Tool also offers an accurate visual feedback reflecting the signal content. A vector scope display, Peak meters for both inputs and outputs, and a phase correlation meter permanently monitor the signal.
As all Flux:: plug-ins it features 64 bit floating point processing, up to 8 FS (384 KHz).

Sweet. I’m gonna download this now and see if it’s worth anything!

We needed another free RTAS metering tool IMO. Unfortunately the Flux website seems to be down for maintenance at the moment

it’s up again.
However, during the installation, they inform that the plug-in is a demo and that it’ll not retain any settings when closed. This, however, is not the case in reality within Pro Tools (or any other host, I suspect)

strangely, it loads only as Dual-Mono in my Pro Tools (master fader track, right?) and only the gaim meters seem to work. Did I miss something?

It loads fine on stereo tracks here (OS X Tiger, 7.4, whatever the latest CS is).

I’ve used this on a few of my mixes, and it does a great job. However, It is very “processor-hungry.” Not to the effect of having to nudge your tracks to compensate for a delay, since ProTools shows that it still runs real-time, but to the effect of seriously lagging my protools sessions to a nasty, odd-sounding halt; not stopping my playback with the all-to-familiar dialouge box for cpu overload.
Sometimes, I’ll have to re-start my computer.
The plug-in it’s self does a great job, like I said; though.
Hope I’m the only one with this problem…..
