Pro Tools HD now compatible with Leopard

Digidesign is pleased to announce Pro Tools® compatibility for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) with Pro Tools HD® 7.4.1 software, the first of a phased Pro Tools update release. Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 software provides Mac OS X 10.5.1 compatibility* with Apple’s current 8-core Mac Pro computers (those featuring Intel “Harpertown” processors).

Leopard compatibility for Pro Tools LE®, Pro Tools M-Powered™, other Pro Tools|HD systems, older Intel-based Mac Pro computers, Avid Mojo® SDI, and expansion chassis is expected in subsequent Pro Tools software updates, so please wait until official announcements are made before upgrading your system to Mac OS X 10.5.

Important — Please be aware that some currently shipping plug-ins and virtual instruments are not compatible with Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 running on Mac OS X 10.5.1, and some require that you update your plug-ins if an update is available. Before you install the Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 update, be sure to review the plug-in compatibility and update information here.

* Pro Tools HD 7.4.1 software works with Mac OS X 10.5.1 only, and is NOT compatible with Apple’s new Mac OS X 10.5.2 release.

There are 6 kickass comments ~ what do you think?

  1. Just downloaded the OS X 10.5.2 Leopard update. Apple says in includes loads of bug fixes, but I don’t feel a real change. Actually, I have a hunch that it might have slow down the system. Did anyone feel the same?

  2. I just bought a new macbook with leopard installed and a copy of protools m-powered and an m-audio interface, without reading first that theyre not compatible yet. Ha ha!

Does anyone have any idea how long it might be before they release upgrades for leopard? ie: weeks or months? If its ages I can get on with installing a version of tiger, if its soon, i can maybe wait.

  3. No one has a clue. Still, we could HOPE for it being soon since HD is now supported.

  4. Yeah but HD isn’t support by 10.5.2 which is what the new Macs have installed on them. Is there another recording program THAT IS ALREADY COMPATIBLE??? I’m ready to DITCH DIGIDESIGN! I can afford HD and I currently have LE so if there’s something else out there that is already compatible, then I’m game to switch!!!
