Not much news these days eh? No wonder it’s a little shallow with all the recent announcements at AES. The C24 was expected and I was happy to see it even if it doesn’t seem to differ much from it’s older brother (or father or whatever). The new ICON was… Well… Darker. But the software, well, let me put it this way: there seems to be some misconceptions about it.

One big thing shown at AES that a lot of people had been waiting for was of course Pro Tools 7.4 and its new elastic audio feature. I feel like I need to clarify something. I’ve heard some people say that the new elastic audio feature is nothing new. I don’t really get this statement. Yes, I know about Apple Loops (like them too!) and yes, I know about Ableton Live (and use it too!). To me Digidesigns implementation of elastic audio seems to be something very different than these two examples, or any other variation I’ve ever come across.

Yeah, the other video in that post is on Speakerphone. Looks amazing, right? I have yet to try it but should get it soon so you can expect a review of it sometime in the near future. What other reviews are coming? Off the top of my head, the latest version of GURU, Pro-C, Vintage Amp Room are all standing in line. KONTAKT 3 has been my instrument of choice the last two or three days and has impressed me a lot, so expect a review of that as well soon.
