iZotope introduced RX and ANR-B

iZotope has released a new standalone application for cleaning up and restoring audio, as well as a new hardware piece meant for broadcasting.
After years of R&D, iZotope is happy to announce RX, the powerful, next-generation audio restoration application. What makes RX unique? It’s a complete standalone application, designed for cleaning and restoring audio, that addresses not only noise, hum, clicks and crackles, but also more complex audio problems like clipping, hard to fix intermittent noises, and even corrupted and missing audio.
Take a look at the full feature list and the video on the RX product page.

iZotope unveiled a working prototype of its realtime adaptive noise reduction hardware, ANR-B, at the October 2006 AES show in NYC. In realtime, ANR-B automatically analyzes incoming audio and removes background noises like fans, engines, hum, hiss, buzz and phone line noise. ANR-B requires no user input to remove noise, making it a revolutionary piece of hardware.

call me cynical, but those demos sound like they added noise to the clean tracks, rather than the other way round.
i tried the demo and wasn’t particularly impressed - particularly with the declicking/decracking. lots of these applications make big promises but none do this job better than cool edit pro as yet, in my opinion

Really? My initial thought was that the demos on the website was pretty good. I haven’t tried the software yet though.

I guess what I’m saying is i don’t know that i believe the demos were made using the software..
i don’t think the application is useless, the noise reduction is quite good and the spectral editing is ok under certain circumstances, but i don’t think it’s doing anything particularly new or special..

come on, i think this piece of soft is awsome. did you see the algorythmics software for PC ? and do you remember the price ? i think, izotope did a very good job with this software. i tried the demo on a very noisy filmset-recording. i erased the camera noise, the background noise, wind rumble and the hiss without any problems and artefacts. compared to the waves plugs it´s a whole new level. no more flanging or weird phasing like sounds on voice-overs. the quality is superb when you know how to use it! give it a try and read the manual.- and it´s the first offline sofware that has different online- and offline quality levels. i find izotope rx very useful and will buy a license.

Just picked it up myself.
I prepared several files, introducing ‘devastating’ artefacts (loud midrange knocks, completely silent 1~2 gaps, digital clicks from ‘granular’ processors) and other problems I have had ruin otherwise good recordings. Without breaking open the manual, I was able to recover these files to my satisfaction with the demo, enough so that next time i have one of these errors occur, instead of my heart dropping I will just mentally add in some extra time to do ‘healing’. The ‘Spectral Repair’ function is unique at this price point.
Fantastic introductory price also! ($200 until 10/31)
