Digital Sound Works has introduced Dramatic Percussion, the first in a series of new virtual instruments. Dramatic Percussion features rarely recorded percussion instruments such as Boo bams, Puili, Octobans, Taos drums, Anklung, a full range of bowed and scraped gongs, Crotales bowed and struck, Vietnamese split bamboo, Concert Toms, Waterphone, and a 50-year-old 55 gallon steel barrell just to name a few. Unusual playing techniques on traditional percussion instruments are also used to create incredible percussion Fx.

The Virtual Instrument is powered by Tascam’s GVI streaming sample playback engine and is 6.5 GB. Much more than just another percussion sample library, Dramatic Percussion utilizes the experiences and techniques of Drums on Demand co-founder and Percussionist Todd Sorensen in creating a virtual instrument that will mesh well with any existing percussion libraries.

Dramatic Percussion is available now at www.digitalsoundworks.com for $199 in a PC version (VSTi, RTAS, stand-alone), with Mac support expected in late summer/early fall.
